After

After your treatment your skin may be red.  This is normal and to be expected. Redness usually lasts from one hour to 24 hours. You may also have a little swelling in some areas. If swelling does occur and you want to minimize it, you may take an antihistamine, such as Benadryl. However most people don't mind the swelling. A few days after your treatment your skin may be dry and some wrinkles may look worse. This is normal as the new cells regenerate in the dermis. As such, it is important to stay hydrated. Generally people notice a tightening and a more even tone to their skin in a week or two, or even longer. The results continue to build for up to 6 months. Remember, we're building collagen, minimizing wrinkles and sun- damage from the inside out, which takes time. Please be patient and realistic with the natural healing process. For optimal results, we usually perform 2 to 3 treatments at intervals of 6 weeks. More severe or advanced conditions, such as scars or deeper wrinkles, up to 6 -8 sessions may be required spaced 6 weeks apart.

•  Patient could experience redness and sensitivity for 1-3 days post procedure.

•  Avoid direct sun exposure for 72 hours post procedure and if possible 10 days.

•  Avoid sweaty exercise, swimming, hot bath/shower (avoid any activity that caused the body temperature) for 72 hours post procedure due to the open pores.

•  Do not apply make-up for 24 hours. May use mineral make-up after 24 hours.

•  Stay away from exfoliants or glycolic acids that are present in cleaners as these can make your skin very dry after the procedure.

•  Cleanse the skin morning and evening with Gentle Cleansing Foam (i.e. Cetaphil, Cerave)

•  Apply Hydrating Complex Serum 2-3 times daily.

•  Apply Sunscreen SPF 30 or higher daily (after the first 12 hours post procedure).    Peeling may start 3-5 days after treatment. Do not pick or scratch at treated skin but instead keep moisturized.

•  After 3 days resume regular skincare regimen.

Here is an outline of what you can expect in the next 7 days:

Day 1: On the next day, you may clean your face as usual and apply makeup, lotions and other topical products as usual. Be sure to use an approved SPF 30 or greater sunscreen!

Days 2-7: Within two (2) days following your Micro-Needling procedure, you will notice skin dryness and flaking. This is due to an increased turnover of skin cells. During this period, you may apply your regular skin moisturizer. Follow the instructions given to you and if Micro-Pen was use around the eyes, you may have a little micro bruising that may exist for three or four days. This can easily be covered with makeup. Days later, your skin will start shedding. These are skin layers that would regularly shed a week later, but the Micro-Needling brings this skin to the surface sooner. During this temporary process, your skin will shed and be dry. You may use your regular skin care products once your skin is not irritated.

Days 7+: A week after the Micro-Needling procedure, most patients notice that their skin is smoother and more radiant. Continue with sun protection every day and reapply every 2 hours if outdoors.
